Frequently Asked Questions
How Is Adenoid Enlargement Diagnosed?
Adenoid tissue can be directly visualized during examination with the help of an endoscope, a special instrument used by ear, nose and throat specialists. If necessary, it can also be detected through imaging techniques. How Is a Tonsil Diagnosis Made?
Tonsils can be examined by endoscopic evaluation during otolaryngology examination. Additional imaging methods can also be used when necessary. When Should Tonsils Be Removed?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia through the mouth. It is usually a daily procedure and does not require hospitalization in most patients. How Is Milk Tooth Impaction Diagnosed?
Adenoid size can be evaluated by endoscopic examination. In some cases, imaging methods can be used to support the diagnosis. When Should Impacted Wisdom Teeth Be Treated?

What is the Plasma Method?
The plasma method is a procedure that uses high-frequency radio waves to shrink or remove tissue in a controlled manner. Compared to traditional high-heat methods, it aims to cause minimal trauma to surrounding tissue. During the procedure, every effort is made to keep bleeding to a minimum. In suitable patients, discharge on the same day may be possible.
What is the Adenoid?
The adenoids are lymphatic tissue located at the back of the nose in children and typically grow during childhood. Whilst they tend to grow in most children until around the age of 8, they begin to shrink as the child gets older. One of their primary functions is to filter the air inhaled through the respiratory tract and support the body’s defence mechanisms. In a sense, it acts as a protective barrier in the nasopharyngeal region.
In the majority of children, it causes no symptoms, and in such cases, the adenoids are not harmful but rather a beneficial structure. However, due to the increasing prevalence of allergic conditions, environmental factors, dietary habits and certain anatomical characteristics, adenoid enlargement is now encountered more frequently than in previous years. This condition can lead to problems in some children that may affect breathing, sleep and quality of life.
